Do dogs see in color? Do cats see what we see? Do some animals have more than two eyes? Answers to questions like these was the subject of Animal Eyes, a 2,000 square foot traveling exhibition that explored what we know about human and animal vision, as well as our ongoing quest to understand what animals actually see.
Designed for 11-14 year olds, the exhibition incorporated hands-on exhibits, text, diagrams, models, photos, and audio components into a comprehensive experience about visual systems. Animal Eyes was awarded first place in the 1999 American Alliance of Museums (AAM) Exhibition Competition.
Animal Eyes was funded in part by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and LensCrafters.
As President of Redmond-Jones & Associates, I project directed the development, design, fabrication, and installation of the exhibition, as well as all of the educational materials, teacher kit, demonstrations, and braille, large-print, and Spanish guides. I also arranged for the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) to travel the exhibition for four years. Due to it's popularity, the tour was extended for an addition four years.
